WATERSPORTS AT THE RESERVOIR

BCYC is based at Cheddar Watersports, a 265 acre reservoir located between Axbridge and Cheddar. The club exists to help people enjoy sailing, windsurfing, and paddle sports. Whether it’s your first time or you're a seasoned sailor, we'd love you to join us! Our club offers a relaxed, informal and friendly environment for all ages and abilities. As a recognised RYA Training Centre, we pride ourselves on our professionalism in training and tuition and we regularly hold taster sessions and courses for both members and non-members. CLIMBING IN CHEDDAR

Climbing in Cheddar Gorge - Caveclimb.com – quality rock climbing experiences. We specialise in bespoke climbing sessions tailored to your needs and experience. All our sessions are exclusive giving you the undivided attention of an expert instructor. We offer comfortable modern harnesses and climbing shoes. There's no minimum age and we have full-body harnesses suitable for very small children. If you're a complete beginner we will teach you the basics of climbing and belaying. If you already have some skills or experience we will add to your knowledge and provide appropriate challenges. We are familiar with all the climbing venues in the Mendip Hills and will advise on the best location to suit your abilities. Wet weather postponements or refunds guaranteed. You can combine a half day climbing with a caving or abseiling session to make a full day of adventure.

HIKING AND WALKING

Cheddar is world famous for its cheese and stunning gorge, but many visitors are unaware of the rich diversity of landscape and walking country we have here. Through the Walkers are Welcome scheme, Cheddar Walking promotes Cheddar as a walker-friendly destination offering a number of walking routes of varying grades, starting from the village centre.

The most popular walks in the Cheddar area are:

Historic Cheddar Village Walk - - This is a circular walk and links the centre of the historic village of Cheddar with Cheddar Gorge.

Gorge Circular Walk - Iconic Cheddar Gorge walk with magnificent views of the gorge and beyond.

Strawberry Line Walk - A long but gentle walk on the old railway line that cuts through the Mendip Hills from Cheddar to Axbridge and on to Winscombe

Sharpham Road Playing Fields park run

Our parkrun is a 5km run, you against the clock. Every Saturday at 9am, at Sharpham Road Playing Fieldsregister before your first run and bring a printed copy of your barcode on the day. We all run for our own enjoyment so please come along and join in whatever your pace!
